Welcome home, Cherry & Mona!

4 Jan 2003, Oody's at Ayala Center's Glorietta 3. Special guests: BC's Mona Trinidad, WV's Cherry Ann Lobaton.

Sunny Escareal's scoop:

Sorry for the delay. Been busy with a lot of things. Would you believe I organized a golf tournament for De La Salle Zobel? Hindi naman ako golfer. It was a fund-raising project for the benefit of the Adult Night High School of Zobel. It was very successful. We had 86 participants/26 flights. And guess who joined? None other than REBAP's past National President, Janette San Juan-Hernandez. Her friend and ka-flight Violy Pegels won the ladies division championship. Would have been fun if Beth Lugtu joined but she had to be in Woodrose that day.

Anyway, here's my scoop on Mona and Cherry's visit.

L-r: Myra Henson, Janette San Juan, Dolly Tesoro, Sunny Escareal, Zamby Arnaiz, Mona Trinidad, Daisy Santillan, Pinky Marquez and Cherry Ann Lobaton.

First of all, let me tell you that Cherry Ann has not changed a bit. Kalog pa rin. Very proud of her husband. Ooops, Tagalugin ko nga pala daw para hindi maintindihan ng asawa pag binukas ang e-mail niya. O siya! Maski mas mahirap...

In addition to Cherry, the other balikbayan of the day was Vancouver BC's Mona Trinidad, in town to attend her parents' golden wedding anniversary. Mona wrote: "We had a very nice time at our lunch with Cherry and family in attendance. Anyway, I'd like to thank Dolly, Sunny, Janette, Myra., Zamby and of course Pinky, for hosting the very delicious lunch. It was a nice time to get together since I was home for a holiday this time around. My thanks also go to Daisy and Sunny for the gifts. My stay was made so much nicer with this get-together. My family was able to meet up with us as we were finishing off with coffee."

Ang kwento nga pala niya pagkatapos ng pag-graduate sa St. Paul's, magkasama sila nina Myra and Tawi sa UPLB. Eh tinakwil daw siya doon. Gustong-gusto mag-doctor kaya't after finishing her BS at UPLB in 1980, lumipat siya sa Lyceum Northwestern in Dagupan where she received her MD in '84.

The Popescus of Martinsburg: Doc Cherry, Christian and son. Zamby wrote: "We were fortunate to have lunch with the Diva from West Virginia - Cherry Ann Lobaton. She was complaining that in the US mahirap maghanap ng glasses coz they fall off, the bridge of her nose can't hold them. So I said, 'Just have a little nose job para may bridge...'. Huwag daw kasi asset niya yon." ;o)

After completing her residency in family practice at Michigan State University's Genesys Regional Medical Center in '98, she moved east to West Virginia. She has her own family practice clinic in Martinsburg (approximately 100 miles from Wash DC) and her husband works with her. All in the family. They went to Palawan for a short vacation and did nothing but have massages the whole time cuz it's so cheap here. Short stay kasi alangan naman bugbog masahe na lang sila. Her kid is so cute. Mukhang pilyo manang-mana kay Cherry Ann.

After lunch, we had coffee naman at Havana and then uwian na. It was really fun.
