October 18, 2004
Dear Fellow Paulinians and Friends,
May this greeting find you and your
loved ones in the best of health and circumstances!
The 19th Annual Dinner-Dance of St.
Paul College Alumnae Association’s Southern California Chapter is just around
the corner. Once again, we need your kind support for this event, which seeks
to raise funds for St. Paul charities.
I wish to thank all of you who supported
our projects last year. Our association
was able to send $5,000 for the Vigil House through the Paulinian Global
Foundation Inc., and $3,000 to Tala Leprosarium.
While Vigil House is a home for aging
and ailing nuns of St. Paul of Chartres in Pasig, Metro Manila, Tala
Leprosarium is a healing center for indigent lepers. Proceeds from the
dinner-dance will also benefit other St. Paul College charities, including a
home for abused women and children.
This year’s dinner-dance will be held
on Saturday, Nov. 20 at the grand ballroom of the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel,
111 E. Ocean Blvd., phone number 562-437-5900. No-host cocktails will commence
at 6:30 p.m., with dinner starting at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $45 per person when
pre-paid by Oct. 31, and are $50 per person after Oct. 31. Attire: Formal.
Enclosed are tickets to the event as
well as a Souvenir Program Advertising Agreement Form.
You can help by:
• Purchasing event tickets and/or
• Purchasing an ad in the souvenir
program and/or
• Sponsoring a table for 10 and
purchasing a full-page ad for a discounted total rate of $500 and/or
• Promoting the event to other
Paulinians, family and friends.
I am confident that our Paulinian
credo — Caritas Cristi urget nos (the charity of Christ compels us) — continues
to ring true in our lives. It is my sincere hope that we unite in true
Paulinian fashion, by heeding the call of those who urgently need our
assistance. Thank you again for your support!
Sincerely,
Irene D. Alzate
President

June 21, 2004
Dear Fellow Paulinians,
Greetings! Once again, the St. Paul College Alumnae Association, Southern California Chapter is on the move. Before anything else, however, let me reiterate my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all of you who supported our projects last year. I am pleased to inform you that the Association was able to send $5,000 for the Vigil House through the Paulinian Global Foundation, Inc., and $3,000 to Tala Leprosarium.
This year,
the Association is focusing on "getting to know" each other. While
the annual Dinner-Dance, traditionally held in November, strengthens bonds
between Association members, a large number of Paulinians within Southern
California remain "outside the circle." This could be due to a notion
that they may not find anyone they know, or that, the Association is exclusive
to a particular branch. This letter is
being sent in an effort to dispel such concerns and invite you to come as a
welcomed member.

L-R: SPCM HS'65 ladies Lynn Umali,
Ingrid Veluz, Irene Dumaual and Yoly Cruz during 7 Dec 2003 Interbatch in Long
Beach CA.
Please be
assured that the SPCAA belongs to all Paulinians regardless of branch or
batch. It is our hope that should any
Paulinian want to link up with former classmates, the SPCAA will be the
organization to go to. To achieve this vision, however, the Association has to
grow in number, with representations from all the branches, on a continuing
basis.
In order to
achieve this goal, the Association is sponsoring an afternoon of Paulinian
Fellowship from 2 to 5 p.m. on
Saturday, July 10th at The British and Dominion Social Club at the Bridgecreek
Business Park, 12882 Valley View St., Building 8, Suite 10-13, Garden Grove,
92845; phone number 714-898-6733. Your families are welcome to join our
informal gathering, through which we hope to reach and encourage more
Paulinians to come and get to know each other, interact, build and strengthen
the Association.
In order to
plan well for this event, please RSVP to any of the contact persons specified
below. Similarly, should you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact
anyone in the list. We would also appreciate any assistance you can provide in
promoting this event to other Paulinians you may be in contact with.
Thank you very much for your support
and cooperation. We look forward to your participation on July 10th.
Sincerely,
Irene D. Alzate
President, SPCAA - SCC

Rendezvous," a festive evening of dance from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday,
July 18, at the Sequoia Center in Buena Park.
The event is aimed to raise funds for various

projects include the construction of the SPC Vigil House, a home for elderly
nuns in Pasig, Philippines, as well as various SPC ministries geared toward
helping street children and battered women.
"It is also a wonderful opportunity for Paulinians to visit

friends," said Irene Alzate, chapter president. "We are appealing to
all Paulinians in Southern California to come forward to support these causes
that are in dire need of our assistance."
The Hill Tops Band will provide dance music. Ticket cost is $25,

In her recap, Yoly Cruz Eisenstein '65
wrote: "The reunion hosted by SPCM HS'65 with active participation of Yoly
Cruz-Eisenstein, Lynn Umali-Ledesma, Irene Dumaual-Alzate, Mildred Dominguez,
and Ingrid Veluz-Jimenez started at around 10:45. Sr. Vincent and other
Paulinians present were shown the video of the current SPCM campus. The video
was shown several times since guests were arriving at staggered time.

Special guests with special reunion
coordinators... Yoly Cruz-Eisenstein '65 (right) graciously hosted the event at
her Long Beach home.
Informal discussion about future fundraising ensued. Sr. Vincent
and her Chorale Group and The Cherubs offered to help in fundraising by
performing in a concert. The group has performed in several events to raise
funds to help build or maintain churches and other community projects including
Sr Eva Fidela Maamo's Foundation of Our Lady of
Peace Mission's Our Lady of Peace Hospital for the Poor in Parañaque.
We were excited by the idea because of the EXCELLENT quality of Sr. Vincent's
Productions. Remember the Broadway plays she was in collaboration with our
beloved Fr. Reuter - Sound of Music, Cabaret, Brigadoon, etc.? Paulinians, some
with their spouses, continued to come all day.
3:30 P.M. Sr. Nieves and Sr. George made their presentation of their
mission. The Vigil House Project was discussed. A short history of the birth of
the project to involve the alumnae in this special project was discussed. The
Sisters also gave us an update on the Foundation's formation and the names of
the charter officers, with representatives solicited from different batches in
different States. as well as the conditions of the nuns who made impressions on
all of us. The presentation ended with enthusiastic response from everybody.
The party continued and more Paulinians still kept on arriving.
Thank you for your attendance and great generosity. The Paulinian
Spirit is alive and well in all of us!"
